Signals and Systems
Course Title: Signals and Systems
Code: 3ФЕИТ05З035
Number of credits (ECTS): 6
Weekly number of classes: 3+2+0+0
Prerequisite for enrollment of the subject: Passed: Mathematics 1
Course Goals (acquired competencies): The course aims to familiarize students with basic concepts and mathematical tools for signal processing and systems analysis. After completing the course, the student is able to - acquire a notion of the basic concepts related to processing of signals such as: convolution, frequency spectrum, frequency characteristic, filtering, transfer function. - to analyze models of LTI systems in time and frequency domain - to use and select appropriate tools for solving specific models.
Total available number of classes: 180
Course Syllabus: Signals. Operations on signals. Properties of signals. Elementary signals. Systems. Interconnections of systems. System properties. Linear time invariant systems. Convolution. Time domain processing. Fourier representations of signals: continuous time periodic signals - the Fourier series; continuous time nonperiodic signals - the Fourier transform. Properties of Fourier representations. Characterization of LTI systems in time and frequency domain (frequency spectrum, frequency characteristic, filtering, Bode plots) Analysis of LTI Systems with Laplace Transformation and Z Transformation. Discretization and reconstruction of analog signals.
