Course Goals (acquired competencies): The students will learn the principles of telecommunication system engineering, and will gain deepen knowledge about analysis and design of telecommunication systems and protocols. The students will be able to perform formal-based modeling and description of telecommunication systems and protocols using SDL. The student will be capable to conduct performance analysis.

Course Syllabus: Basics of telecommunications system engineering. Phases of telecommunication engineering. Аnalysis and design of telecommunication systems and protocols. Modeling of the dynamic behavior of communication systems using discrete state automata. Specification and Description Language (SDL). Data types in SDL. SDL modularity. Complementary languages (MSC and TTCN). Creating performance models of ICT systems and protocols.
