Course Goals (acquired competencies): Students will be introduced to the principles of management in telecommunication networks, management of multimedia services and applications.

Course Syllabus: Principles of telecommunication network management. Standards and standardization bodies. Models of communication networks: OSI model, TMN, TCP/IP model of network management. Network Management Functions. FCAPS model. Fault management. Configuration management. Accounting. Performance management. Security Management. Management protocols: SMTP, NetConf, NetFlow. Managing elements in the network, services and applications (web, AAA). Policy-based management. WEB services and their management. Managing IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) services. Commercial  and open source tools for management of communication networks.
