Donation of the Digital Protection equipment for the Relay Protection Laboratory of the Institute of Power Plants and Power Systems.

logoabb.pngABB - the world top company in the production of electrical equipment and the technological leader in the power engineering sector donated modern equipment to the Relay Protection Laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in Skopje. The donation consists of two state-of-the-art ABB technological devices for power system protection:

  • REL 670 – Protection Device for power lines,

  • REL 650 - Protection Device for power transformer.

 

The initiative came from the Head of the Laboratory, Professor Mito Zlatanoski, Eng.D. and it was followed by additional activities of Mr. Igor Sekulovski, Sales Manager at ABB Makedonija and Mr. Vladimir Stojanoski, Eng.M., HV&MV - Substation Design Engineer.

 

The cooperation with ABB started in the beginning of June 2011 with visiting of two experts from ABB, Mr. Lars-Olof Jonsson B.Sc.BA&E, Area Sales Manager Substation Automation Products, ABB AB Sweden, and Mr. Antun Ivan Kraljevic, B.Sc.el.eng, Sales Engineer ABB d.o.o Zagreb, Croatia. During the two-day activities, the experts from ABB presented the high-tech solution of the company in the field of power system protection. Additional training programs for the use of the donated equipment held by ABB experts are planned in the recent future.

 

The purpose of this activity is to improve and enrich the study program of the courses for power protection for the power engineering module of the Faculty, especially for activation of practical exercises.

 

The additional activities are going to be included into the practical training courses for engineers with majors in power system protection or engineers who work in this field in Macedonia i.e. which professional activities are connected to power system protection.
