New Master Study Program in Micro and Nano Technologies at FEEIT, Ss Cyril and Methodius University (SsCMU)

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies in Skopje, Macedonia, has developed a new master study program in Micro and Nano Technologies. The study program has been accredited by the National Accreditation Body and will start from September 2013.

This study program was established with support and help from the tri-national SCOPES project “Skills Development for Young Researchers and Educational Personal in Nano and Microelectronics Curricula: Implementation of Methods for bilateral Knowledge Transfer between Universities and SMEs” financially supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

This Institutional Partnership project is led by a consortium of partners from Switzerland, Bulgaria and Macedonia:

  1. HEIG-VD/HES-SO, University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland, Department of Industrial Technologies, Institute of Micro & Nano Technics – Laboratory of Applied NanoSciences (MNT-LANS), Yverdon-les-Bains (Switzerland). http://www.mnt-lans.ch, http://www.heig-vd.ch
  2. Technical University of Sofia (Bulgaria), Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Technology, Department of Microelectronics. http://www.tu-sofia.bg
  3. Ss. Cyril and Methodius University Skopje (Macedonia), Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies. http://en.feit.ukim.edu.mk

The new master study program at Ss Cyril & Methodius University especially focuses on nano- and micromecatronic topics which have huge application potential in many industrial sectors, like microelectronics, micromechanics, pharmaceutical and biomedical applications, automation and automotive industry. The program is organized as a 1 year (60 ECTS) program with two compulsory subjects and three elective from the faculty list, as well as a master project work (30 ECTS) in the field of micro– and nanotechnologies. The courses are given in English language.

Compulsory courses (6 ECTS each):

  • Nanomaterials and Nanostructures
  • From Micro to Nano Electronics.

Elective subjects (6 ECTS each):

  • Nanotechnologies and Basics of Microelectronic Fabrication
  • Micro and Nano Technologies
  • Micro and Nano Sensors
  • Design of MEMS and NEMS
  • Simulation of Semiconductor Elements and Processes
  • Design of Analogue and Mixed Signals Circuits
  • Communication and Testing Interfaces
  • Basics of Photonics
  • Characterization of Micro and Nano Materials
