ITU Centre of Excellence elearning course: “4G and Next Generation Mobile Internet”

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Centre of Excellence (CoE) node at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, will conduct eLearning course on “4G and Next Generation Mobile Internet” from 22 November to 19 December 2016, within the framework of ITU Centre of Excellence Network for Europe, and it will be delivered through the ITU Academy: https://academy.itu.int

This course will focus on 4G and Next Generation Mobile Internet from technology, regulation and business aspects. It will cover mobile Internet fundamentals, including Mobile IP and Mobile IPv6, mobility on different protocol layers, handovers, Internet technologies for mobile networks (GTP, SCTP) as well regulation and business aspects for mobile Internet. Further, the course will include 4G mobile technologies, including LTE/LTE-Advanced access and Evolved Packet Core (EPC), Mobile WiMAX 2.0, WiFi in 4G, Self-Organizing Networks (SON), design of access, backhaul and core networks for 4G, ITU spectrum management for IMT, as well as regulatory and business aspects for 4G. Also, it will cover 4G and next generation mobile services, including Quality of Service (QoS) framework in 4G networks, mobile VoIP (VoLTE), mobile IPTV and video streaming, Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC), Web 2.0 and Over-The-Top (OTT) services (Skype, Youtube, Facebook) over mobile broadband, Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) as well as business and regulation of mobile broadband Internet services. Finally, the course will incorporate evolution toward 5G, including 5G network architectures, 5G mobile Internet and mobile clouds, M2M and Internet of Things (IoT) in 5G, next generation mobile Internet services, role of ITU for 5G global harmonization and potential solutions for 5G spectrum as well as business challenges for 5G mobile broadband.
This course is targeted at managers, engineers and employees from regulators, government organisations, telecommunication companies and academia, who are interested in understanding, implementation and regulation of 4G and Next Generation Mobile Internet, including technologies, standardization, regulation and content. Other institutions and individuals that are dedicated in building their capacity related to 4G and Next Generation Mobile Internet are also welcome to participate.
