ITU Centre of Excellence elearning course: “4G Mobile and Future Internet”

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Centre of Excellence (CoE) node at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, will conduct eLearning course on

“4G Mobile and Future Internet”

from 19 November to 16 December 2013,

within the framework of ITU Centre of Excellence Network for Europe, and it will be delivered through the ITU Academy: http://academy.itu.int.

Head/Coordinator of ITU Centre of Excellence at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies in Skopje is Prof. Dr. Toni Janevski (tonij@feit.ukim.edu.mk).

This course will focus on 4G Mobile and Future Internet from technology, regulation and business aspects. It will cover the 4G definition by the ITU, and 4G mobile networks and technologies including LTE/LTE-Advanced and Mobile WiMAX. Further, the course will include Future Internet developments, going from the fundamental Internet technologies towards the Future Internet architecture and services, including web-based services, IMS-based services, Service Overlay Networks (SON), and any-thing communication.  Also, it will cover the 4G broadband Internet access, all-IP architectures, 4G backhaul (Carrier-grade Ethernet), naming and addressing in 4G, Internet mobility solutions, Mobile IPv4 and Mobile IPv6, mobile broadband roaming, as well as regulation and business aspects for 4G broadband Internet. Finally, the course will incorporate 4G mobile multimedia services, including the QoS framework, 4G mobile VoIP, Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS), web services in 4G, emerging mobile multimedia services (mobile clouds, smart homes, smart cities, intelligent transportation systems, M2M), as well as business and regulation challenges for 4G Mobile and Future Internet services.

This course is targeted at managers, engineers and employees from regulators, government organisations, telecommunication companies and academia, who are interested in understanding, implementation and regulation of 4G Mobile and Future Internet, including technologies, standardization, regulation and content. Other institutions and individuals that are dedicated in building their capacity related to 4G Mobile and Future Internet are also welcome to participate.
