ITU Centre of Excellence elearning course: “Mobile Broadband”

17 November – 14 December 2015

 

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Centre of Excellence (CoE) node at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, will conduct eLearning course on “Mobile Broadband” from 17 November to 14 December 2015, within the framework of ITU Centre of Excellence Network for Europe, and it will be delivered through the ITU Academy: https://academy.itu.int/

Head/Coordinator of ITU Centre of Excellence at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies in Skopje is Prof. Dr. Toni Janevski (tonij@feit.ukim.edu.mk).

This course will focus on Mobile Broadband from technology, regulation and business aspects. It will cover 3GPP mobile broadband technologies, including mobile Internet architectures, ITU’s IMT-Advanced umbrella, 3G and 4G mobile broadband (HSPA, LTE/LTE-Advanced), System Architecture Evolution (SAE) and Evolved Packet Core (EPC), QoS in 3GPP mobile networks, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), as well as ITU’s spectrum management for IMT. Further, the course will include IEEE mobile broadband technologies, which include broadband WiFi access, Mobile WiMAX release 1 and 2, QoS solutions in IEEE wireless/mobile networks, and their business and regulation aspects. Also, it will cover ITU’s work on mobile broadband, including mobility in Next Generation Networks (NGN), IPv6 mobile broadband, QoS for mobile services, satellites for smart broadband solutions, spectrum demands for mobile broadband access, as well as regulation aspects of mobile broadband and work toward IMT-2020. Finally, the course will incorporate mobile broadband Internet services such as VoIP over LTE/LTE-Advanced, mobile WiMAX and WiFi, Mobile IPTV, eMBMS, streaming, mobile social networking, mobile cloud computing, location-based services, Device-to-Device (D2D) over mobile broadband, as well as business aspects and regulation challenges for mobile broadband Internet services.

This course is targeted at managers, engineers and employees from regulators, government organisations, telecommunication companies and academia, who are interested in understanding, implementation and regulation of Mobile Broadband, including technologies, standardization, regulation and content. Other institutions and individuals that are dedicated in building their capacity related to Mobile Broadband are also welcome to participate.
